My brother says: Don't worry about 2052, we will be in paradise by then...
by Joliette ini was talking to my brother about a video that i saw about african genocide, and in the video this doctor that i listened to was saying based on his research he predicts that africans in different regions of africa will be scaled back by about 50% by the year 2052 (due to aids, food storages, etc).
my brother gave me a drive home from work and we were talking about this.
he said that we wont have to worry about that cause 2052 is never going to happen.

Tech49 on HOURS, TIME, and REPORTS
by Tech49 ini thought i would share some of my observations on counting field service time, reports, etc.
and how those reports are viewed, to those that are still so fixated on numbers.. i served as secretary on the service committee for many years, and have seen it all!.
i was really disheartened when wt changed the requirement for aux pioneering to allow for 30 hrs, instead of the 50 it has been for so long.

Yeah, those experiences sound about right! Thanks for sharing.
What I learned as I was on my way out was that field service (and by extention pioneering at any hour level) has really nothing to do with anything but commitment. I read Festinger's "When Prophecy Fails" and learned that people who make the largest commitments to a cult (leave jobs, school) are the ones who end up staying in when the proverbial shit hits the prophetic fan. Thus, the society's 30 hour plan makes sense from this perspective. It certainly will not lead to any real "growth"
Festinger was a social psychologist who coined the term "cognitive dissonance" Some interesting reading if you get the chance.

I remember the feeling I had after I had done my research and finally realized "This is it. It's just us and probably no one else." It literally felt as if the world turned upside down; but it was such a relief compared to the junk I had pummeled into my brain since I was five years old. It's not for the faint hearted, but everyone should have at least the chance to thoroughly examine and challenge their beliefs, and question what they know and how they know it.

Welcome TECH49!
My wife began to notice that whenever I would come home from an elders meeting, a glass of burbon was in order
My drinking went from low/moderate to heavy when I became an elder. My wife noticed this too.

Is Blind Obedience to group of men supported by Scripture?
by nugget ini have been pondering over the demands made by the governing body for absolute loyalty and unquestioning obedience to their interpretation of scripture.
is this a reasonable request and is it in line with scripture?
alternatively is there in fact a scriptural defence for taking personal responsibility for beliefs and having a questioning attitude when being told what is to be believed.. there are ample scriptural warnings about trusting in men psalm 146 v 3 warns us not to put our trust in nobles or earthly men and galatians 1 v 8 goes even further stating that even if an angel were to preach to us something contrary to the teachings of christ it should be ignored.

"Scripture" is just the medium these guys works in. . . .
Other cults use UFO's or L Ron Hubbard's books as their medium.
Blind obedience is part of the underlying structure of all cults; the other stuff (bible, science fiction) is all just surface stuff.
